Position Summary:


The Math Editor/Proofreader will work with the Math Content Specialist to proofread, edit, and revise K-12th Math content to meet both Texas TEKS and Common Core standards. Content includes instruction for the student, example problems, and answer keys. Working directly under the Editor Supervisor and collaborating with the Math Content Specialist, the Math Editor will initiate and complete a range of editing lessons for curricula in grades K to 12.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Education or a related field (required)
  • Eligible for valid Texas Educator Certification (preferred)

 

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

 

  • Proven math editing skills
  • Math teaching, tutoring, or other classroom experience
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Word and ability to quickly learn math typing software
  • Effective project coordinating skills
  • Strong work ethic and task oriented
  • Technical writing skills in order to prepare curricula
  • Familiarity with web-based curriculum delivery programs
  • Advanced knowledge of state curriculum standards for K-12 learning
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Knowledge of state assessments
  • Ability to establish goals with timelines for curriculum writing projects
  • Passionate about education, literacy, and character education

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

The Math editor/proofreader will promote the mission and vision of ResponsiveEd and their respective campuses by increasing the quality of student learning and engagement through a vibrant and rigorous program. Collaboration and effective cooperation with content specialist, editors, and other team members is also required.

 


The Math Content Editor will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Review and revise math lessons based upon the individualize approach of our proprietary curricula, while maintaining the state standards, to help students complete their course work.  
  • Edit Math assessments in alignment with EOC (State Assessment) question designs.
  • Provide close editing of all Math curricula.
  • Collaborate and cooperate effectively with the Math content specialist, editors, and other team members.
  • Use clean, clear writing and real world examples when writing lessons and assessment questions.
  • Incorporate different levels of rigor into assessment writing.
  • Pay attention to detail and use standard editing marks when reviewing and editing math content.
  • Learn and use MathType and other math software proficiently.
  • Keep track of time on projects and make adjustments as needed.
