Position Summary: The Custodian will perform routine custodial work to keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. This may include performing heavy cleaning duties, such as dusting, cleaning floors and furniture, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

 

Qualifications: Education/Certification High school degree or GED (preferred) One year of custodial experience (preferred) Experience 2+ years related experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Ability to communicate effectively with others Ability to take care of the customers' needs while following company procedures Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information

 

Duties and Responsibilities: Perform general clean-up of all areas of the building as directed Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas and interior areas Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders Remove garbage and recycling daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests Ensure rooms are maintained and fully equipped Document completion of work orders Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them Service, clean, and supply restrooms Clean and polish furniture and fixtures Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment Steam-clean or shampoo carpets as needed Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors as needed Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks as needed Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems. Remove debris from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as training and meetings Page 2 of 2 Clean break areas, keep kitchen areas and tables clean All other related duties as assigned

Physical / Environmental Factors: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Other physical demands include hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity, visual acuity, speech and hearing, repetitive motion, climbing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, balancing, and driving to perform essential functions.
