Position Summary:
The Tutor prepares, educates, and coaches students in iSchool Virtual Academy for assigned content
areas. Works with parents and students to provide and implement individualized education to meet the
needs of all students. Tutors will hold live sessions, work individually with students and hold small group
sessions.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
? Bachelor’s Degree with an academic minor or major (minimum of 18 credit hours) in the core
academic subject areas to be taught (Preferred)
? Texas State Teacher Certification in subject (preferred)
Experience
? Teaching experience in a Public School is preferred

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide tutoring and instruction to develop the students' understanding in assigned content areas.
- Coach and help students to become familiar with state mandated testing and other assigned testing material.
- Teach students stress reducing techniques.
- Allocate time and resources to areas the student(s) are struggling.
- Perform tutorials, during and after normal business hours, which may include, but is not limited to, Saturday tutorials.
- Complete the attendance paperwork
- Take ownership of the knowledge of students and commit to stretching students’ cognitive capacities
- Use accomplished pedagogical expertise to execute lessons aligned to state standards while relating to and anticipating student needs through progress monitoring
- Use differentiate instruction to personalize learning and proactively minimize confusion or disengagement
- Deliver instruction to generate further student inquiry to promote problem-solving, real-world application, and high order thinking
- Establish an overwhelmingly positive class climate so regardless of what a student may be dealing with personally, your classroom is an emotional and social oasis
- Utilize analytical and reflective method for formal and informal student data
- Display mutual respect with students while maintaining an emotionally safe and supportive learning environment
- Partner with special educators to determine the appropriate implementation of accommodations and modifications for specific content standards
- Comply with the Texas Educator Code of Ethics, the ResponsiveEd Employee Handbook, the ResponsiveEd Student-Parent Handbook, administrative directives and other manuals and procedures documents
- Serve as a test administrator during all state testing examination windows and district assessment testing as needed; which may require overnight travel. More information listed under Physical / Environmental Factors
