Position Overview:
The Director of Student Growth Assessments will lead the district’s efforts in managing, analyzing, and improving student growth data through standardized and formative assessments. This role is critical for driving instructional strategies that elevate student performance and ensure alignment with state and district accountability measures. The individual will oversee the development of a new teacher evaluation metric focused on measuring student performance.
The Director of Student Growth Assessments will align district priorities with effective student growth metrics and teacher evaluations, emphasizing fidelity and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive student growth assessment strategy across the district.
- Collaborate with district and campus leadership to analyze assessment data and implement strategies to improve student outcomes.
- Work closely with the Academics Department, teachers, and principals to ensure assessments are used effectively to drive instructional practices and enhance student learning.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Testing and Accountability to manage the submission of assessment-related data for district initiatives.
- Oversee the accurate collection, management, and reporting of student growth data to ensure compliance with state accountability standards and district policies.
- Identify trends in student performance data to inform policy recommendations, professional development needs, and instructional improvements.
- Regularly present data-driven insights and reports to district leadership and other key stakeholders.
Specific Responsibilities for Student Growth Assessments (SGAs):
- Review the TEKS and create standardized pre- and post-assessments for each grade level and subject area not covered by MAP or Amplify testing.
- Collaborate with District Content Specialists and teachers who have achieved “Master” or “Exemplary” TIA designations to review all proposed assessments. This collaboration ensures high-quality, TEKS-aligned assessments, and promotes buy-in from non-TIA designated teachers aspiring for their own designations and incentives.
- Integrate the assessments into a computerized platform (e.g., Bright Thinker) to facilitate digital administration and provide instant results.
- Build a library of standardized assessments, including curriculum-specific assessments, providing teachers with structured and consistent tools to measure student growth.
